For example, the flagship of the new family – the NVIDIA GeForce GTX690 – has 3072 CUDA cores, as opposed to a CPU's eight cores.
When you need to check 1,000,000 combinations of characters, we distribute these among all the processing cores – so quantity beats quality here. Even slower video cards, such as the NVIDIA 6XX, will check these combinations dozens of times faster than the fastest hot-rod CPU.
