Security, reliable protection, and strong data encryption play a key role today. Protection algorithms are becoming more resilient and require substantial computing power to crack.
At the same time, users may encounter the problem of losing passwords to important files, both at home and at work. Passcovery offers solutions that significantly reduce
password recovery time by leveraging the power of GPUs and innovative approaches to search optimization.
We proudly present the updated versions of our password recovery software – Passcovery 24.09. In this release, we’ve taken another step forward in accelerating lost password
searches, expanded the range of supported GPUs, and introduced multilingual dictionary attacks.
Key Innovations in Passcovery 24.09:
Support for Intel Arc GPUs – The new versions of the software now support the latest Intel Arc GPU families, significantly accelerating the password recovery
process using GPUs. Previously, support was only available for AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards, but now users with Intel GPUs can leverage their hardware capabilities for password cracking.
Enhanced Performance with Top GPUs – For high-performance graphics cards from AMD and NVIDIA, we have further optimized the interaction between CPU and GPU.
This has increased the password cracking speed for complex file formats and algorithms used within them. The interaction between computational resources has become more refined,
reducing idle time and wait times, and enhancing the efficiency of resource utilization.
Accelerated Password Cracking for SHA-512, SHA-1, and SHA-256 Algorithms – These algorithms are commonly used for password protection in Microsoft Office
documents, RAR3/RAR5 archives, WinZip-AES, encrypted TrueCrypt volumes, and Apple iOS backup files. In the new software versions, we have optimized the handling of these
algorithms and achieved speed improvements of up to 20%. This makes Passcovery an even more powerful tool for working with highly protected data.
Support for UTF-8 Encoded Dictionaries – Multilingual dictionaries with various character sets are now fully supported thanks to the addition of UTF-8 encoding. This allows for
the recovery of passwords that may include characters from different languages and encodings, which is particularly relevant for global users working with multilingual documents.
What Problems Does Passcovery Solve?
Forgotten passwords can pose a serious barrier to quick access to important information. Passcovery software allows users to recover passwords for many popular file formats and encryption
types, making it a valuable tool for IT professionals, system administrators, and anyone who faces password loss.
The password recovery process is essentially a brute force attack, meaning it involves checking possible password combinations (in one form or another). The more complex and longer the
password, the more variations need to be checked, which requires more time. However, with GPU acceleration and carefully configured attacks, this process can be significantly expedited.
Passcovery products offer users both capabilities.
The three main types of attacks:
1. Brute Force Attack – This method involves directly checking all possible combinations of characters. It is the most universal and reliable approach, capable of
recovering any password, regardless of its complexity.
2. Mask Attack and Positional Mask – This technique reduces search time by specifying known and/or likely parts of the password, such as its length or certain
characters. This significantly decreases the number of checks required and speeds up the password recovery process.
3. Dictionary Attack and Dictionary Mutation Attack – These programs manipulate pre-made lists of words that may be used as passwords. This method is effective when
the password is based on existing words or phrases (our solutions can combine and manipulate up to four dictionaries simultaneously).
In the new version, multilingual dictionaries encoded in UTF-8 are supported.
Why is GPU Acceleration So Important?
Graphics processors possess remarkable computing power that can be effectively utilized for parallel computations. In the context of password recovery, GPU acceleration allows for
a significant increase in password cracking speed by distributing calculations across multiple concurrently executing threads. This makes the password recovery process tens of times
faster compared to using only a central processing unit (CPU).
With the release of Passcovery 24.09, GPU support has been expanded to include Intel Arc graphics cards alongside the already supported NVIDIA and AMD families. This opens up even more
possibilities for users with diverse hardware configurations.
High-performance graphics cards from AMD and NVIDIA, such as the GeForce RTX 40 and Radeon RX 7000 series, continue to demonstrate outstanding results in password recovery tests.
What Formats Does Passcovery Support?
Passcovery software supports a wide range of popular file formats and encryption algorithms, making it a recommended solution for password recovery in 2024/2025:
Microsoft Office and OpenOffice/LibreOffice documents
Adobe PDF files
RAR/WinRAR and ZIP/WinZip archives
Apple iOS backup files
TrueCrypt volumes
WPA/WPA2 handshakes
Each Passcovery program is optimized for the fastest possible password recovery using both CPU and GPU acceleration.
